Laminated (safe VSG) and toughened (safe ESG) glazing enhance the safety of interior users, both children and adults. The level of safety offered can be adjusted to meet specific needs.
Depending on the chosen configuration, safety glazing is characterized by a varied class according to EN 12600 and/or EN 356. For example, Guardian LamiGlass™ P4A glazing meets the requirements necessary for use in units designed for products with safety class RC2, while Guardian LamiGlass™ glazing with a 44.1 configuration will provide only symbolic anti-burglary protection, but will protect household members from injury.
Why recommend laminated glazing:
- The films securing them bond broken glass fragments that occur if the pane is damaged, reducing the risk of injury.
- They form an effective barrier for burglars attempting to enter, making it difficult for them to break through the glass.
- They protect items from fading caused by UV radiation, eliminated by up to 99%, depending on the configuration.
Why recommend toughened glazing:
- They are significantly harder to break and are more resistant to external stimuli, e.g., strong wind pressure.
- When broken, they create less dangerous pieces with blunt edges, so a broken pane does not pose as significant a threat, and the damaged partition can serve as an evacuation opening.
- They withstand large temperature changes, which increases their durability and protects against damage when heated.
Choose safety glazing if your client:
- Must meet legal requirements that can only be satisfied by safety glazing with appropriate parameters.
- Cares about their own and their family's safety, understanding that any pane can be broken and should not then pose a threat.
- Wants to effectively defend against potential intruders, for whom large panes appear to be an easy access route.
- Needs protection against falling out but does not want to use additional railings.
