After launching the finished goods warehouse, Eko-Okna invested in new solutions in the field of logistics and transport.
Logistics and transport are, of course, apart from the production of windows, a very strong point of the Eko-Okna company. The manufacturer does not use the solutions offered by shipping companies, what is more, it is constantly developing in this respect.
Less than a year ago, Eko-Okna opened a warehouse for finished products, which is the logistics center of the entire company. This is where all finished products are transported, which are then completed according to orders. Due to the development of export sales to the USA, the warehouse was also adapted to the loading of containers.
The warehouse significantly improved the loading work. Cars with the BDF system are to be another logistic improvement. The first units were supplied to the Eko-Okna fleet, which today has already 350 trucks. Vehicles with swap body systems allow loading without the presence of the car and the driver.
„The containers are transported on a special platform with the use of a tractor to the loading zones of the warehouse, where they are loaded. After loading, they are transported to the parking lot again, where they stand on supporting legs. On the day of departure, the driver drives up the container and hooks it to the chassis. This allows us to save space in the warehouse and improves the internal capacity of the company, because the cars do not have to enter the MWG again and do not block internal traffic” explains Dawid Wyrtki from the Eko-Okna transport department.
The cars have been adapted to the transport of forklifts. Eko-Okna is famous for the fact that they always take a forklift on the road, thanks to which they can not only deliver, but also unload orders with their customers.
„Currently our BDFs run to France and Germany. However, we are already working on using them also on other routes” adds Dawid Wyrtki.
As we learn, Eko-Okna plans to purchase more vehicles of this type. This year, the company's fleet will increase by 4 cars of this type. More will join them next year.
